Thirty-eight championship games held on final day of the 33rd Schwan's USA CUP July 22

BLAINE, Minn. (July 22, 2017) – Championship games for all divisions of the 33rd Schwan’s USA CUP youth soccer tournament were decided Saturday, July 22 at the National Sports Center in Blaine.

This year’s tournament featured a turnout of 1,168 teams from 17 states and 15 countries, making it the largest youth soccer tournament in the Western Hemisphere. The event generated an estimated $33 million in economic impact.

A total of 38 championship games were played. Minnesota teams captured 20 titles.

Minneapolis United led the race among the Minnesota clubs winning championships, with three titles. REV, Fusion, Blaine and Eden Prairie won two championships apiece. Single titles went to Edina, Minnesota Thunder Academy, Saint Paul Blackhawks, Brainerd, Cruz Azul, Joy of the People, Urban Stars and the Bloomington Youth Soccer Association.

Other U.S. states winning titles were Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Among the international teams, Canada and Mexico led the race with three championships each. Brazil and Costa Rica took two apiece. Haiti, China, Japan, and the Cayman Islands each won a single title.
