Target USA CUP Weekend Tournament champions crowned on Sunday

BLAINE, Minn. (July 14, 2019) – Champions were crowned in 26 divisions of the Target USA CUP Weekend Tournament Sunday, July 14.

After a day off on Monday, Target USA CUP will resume on Tuesday, July 16. The Opening Ceremonies will be held at 7 pm Tuesday evening. The ceremonies will feature the traditional Olympic-style parade of teams, the Target Sky Dive Team, special guest former Team USA player Jimmy Conrad, fireworks and post-ceremony concert.

This year’s tournament features 1,152 teams from 22 states and 19 countries, making it the largest youth soccer tournament in the Western Hemisphere. The weekend and week-long tournaments together will generate an estimated $36.4 million in economic impact.

It was a good year for Minnesota clubs, with nine different clubs winning a total of 10 titles. Northern Lights Soccer, Fusion, Minnesota Thunder Academy, North Suburban Soccer, St. Paul Blackhawks, Edina SC, Minneapolis United, Salvo SC, and St. Croix Academy captured championships.

Other U.S. states winning championships were Illinois (7), Wisconsin (3), Iowa (2), North Dakota (1) and South Dakota (1).

Brazil and Japan won a championship apiece.
