Team Checklist

1. Complete the tournament roster online using our Team Management tools Select the correct tournament from the Team Management Tools above.

  • »  Preliminary roster is due June 1, 2009. All players, including guest players, must be listed on the tournament roster.
  • »  Addresses are not required for international players.
  • »  Roster changes may continue until the following dates:
    • »  Wednesday, July 7 at 1600: Schwan’s USA CUP Weekend
    • »  Sunday, July 11 at 1600: Schwan’s USA CUP
    • »  Final rosters will be printed at these times for final team check-in.
    • »  If there is an emergency and a player must be added after these dates/times, print an updated roster and bring it to final team check-in.
  • »  A unique jersey number is required for each player; no jersey sharing permitted.
  • »  Provide each player’s primary position on final roster.
  • »  ALL guest players must be identified on the roster. 

2. Direct parents to complete the online NSC Liability Waiver (above).

  • »  Provide parents with the tournament ID number for this task. Players are not permitted to participate in the tournament without a completed NSC Waiver on file.
  • »  You may monitor the progress of your parents by selecting View Roster from the online roster menu. The WV column stands for Waiver. Each time a parent completes the online waiver, an ‘X’ is displayed in this column to the left of the player’s name.
  • »  Waivers are tracked to each player’s address, not the parent’s email address. Therefore, a parent may complete the online waiver from any computer!

4.  All foreign teams must have permission-to-travel from their league or governing body, as well as travel insurance for all players.  Fax:  763.785.3660 or cbourdon@usacup.org.

  • »  Contact your national federation for the permission-to-travel form.
  • »  Include the USA CUP tournament sanctioning document (available here) with your permission to travel application.

5. Guest Players

  • »  Canada: Direct your guest player to contact his/her province/club for permission-to-travel or a player loan form.
  • »  United States: Any player from the United States must be currently registered with USSF or a FIFA-affiliated association.
    • »  Direct the player to contact his/her State Association for permission-to-travel or the USYS Team Player Information Form per the State Association procedures for players/teams attending non-US Youth Soccer events.
    • »  Minnesota players will provide the USYS Team Player Information Form.

  • »  The National Sports Center provides secondary medical insurance for all participants. See certificate on our sanctioning page.
  • »  Guest players will not be able to play without this information on file with the tournament.
  • »  Upon receipt of this information, add the player to your tournament roster as a guest player and instruct the parent to complete the online liability waiver form.
  • »  Guest Player Limit: Up to 6 guest players may be rostered per team.
    • »  No more than 2 players per team may play on one other team in addition to their primary team. Note: This is a change from 2008.
    • »  Email sleahey@usacup.org the name of the double rostered player’s primary team ID number and secondary team ID number. The player fee will be waived for the player’s secondary team within each tournament only.
    • »  Players dropping from the team roster prior to the start of the first game will receive a refund of the player fee only.

6.  Player fees are payable by Visa, MasterCard, check, money order or cash. Team payment only; no individual payments.

  • »  To pay by Visa or MasterCard, use the online balance due payment option (available in the Team Management tools at top of page).
  • »  If you are paying by check or money order:
    • »  Make payment payable to either Schwan’s USA CUP Weekend or Schwan’s USA CUP.
    • »  Record your tournament ID number on check or money order.
    • »  Mail payment to 1700 105th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55449
  • »  If you are paying by cash, office hours are Monday-Friday, 0900-1700. The main office is located in the Administration Building on the NSC campus; enter the building from parking lot B off Davenport Street and proceed to level 2.
  • »  No invoice will be sent to your team.
  • »  For player fee breakdown, visit our fees section. Player fees are determined by the number of players on your roster.
  • »  Contact Colleen Bourdon cbourdon@usacup.org for payment options.

7.  Required hotel lodging, if applicable.

  • »  Provide the name, city and phone number of the hotel (available in the Team Management tools at top of page). Update as needed.
  • »  Hotel contact information is used in an emergency. In the event that we are not able to contact you using your cell phone, we will contact you at the hotel.
  • »  The National Sports Center is also required by the State of Minnesota to track for economic impact. Did you know that the National Sports Center is second only to the Mall of America for economic impact and the number of annual visitors?

8.  Dormitory lodging

  • »  Complete the online dormitory housing list (available in the Team Management tools at top of page).
  • »  Preliminary dormitory housing lists are due June 1. Final dormitory housing lists are due June 7. Any additions to the housing list after June 7 are not guaranteed.
  • »  Individuals dropping from the dormitory housing list July 1 will not be refunded the housing fee; player fees will be refunded.
  • »  Dormitory assignments will be posted online June 23.
  • »  Special requests are not guaranteed and will be fulfilled if possible based on date of application.

9. Homestay Housing List – Confirmed Homestay Teams Only

  • »  Complete the online Homestay Assignment (available in the Team Management tools at top of page).
  • »  Contact Colleen Bourdon at cbourdon@usacup.org for assistance.

10. Transportation Request - Dormitory Teams Only

  • »  If your team requires complimentary transportation between point of arrival and dormitory at the beginning and end of the tournament, complete the online transportation request (available in the Team Management tools at top of page).
  • »  Update the transportation request as changes occur in your travel schedule.

11.  Player passes are required for play.

  • »  Passports and player passes are required at Final Team Check-in.  
  • »  Player passes must also be presented at the start of each game.
  • »  International players must complete the NSC Player Pass Form. Carefully review the player’s name and date of birth for accuracy before laminating.

12.   Print the rules. Coaches are responsible for knowing the rules in advance. Express concerns prior to the start of each game.
