Luck wasn’t with Minnesota Stars FC Wednesday night as they fell 2-1 to the counter attack-minded Fort Lauderdale Strikers in front of 4,034 fans at NSC Stadium. The crowd was bolstered by a large group of Schwan’s USA CUP players and fans who took advantage of discounted tickets to see Minnesota’s pro soccer team renew their NASL championship rivalry with the Strikers from a year ago.
As the tournament expands and the world of social media expands, Schwan’s USA CUP, presented by PUMA, continues to grow with the times. This year, the tournament added a new mobile application in partnership with Tiny Mission, a small Minnesota company focusing on personal service and custom solutions for their customers.
While teams from all over the world make their way to Blaine, Minnesota for Schwan’s USA CUP, presented by PUMA, there are also local Twin Cities teams who have embraced the USA CUP experience.
"Sipping from the CUP" is the new daily news column in The Daily Kick. Each day during Schwan's USA CUP, we'll be using this column to feature short news items, humorous things seen on the campus, and even some gossip! Read and enjoy.
