The 18 girls on the Yuwa Supergoats have been playing soccer together since 2009. They come from five different neighbouring villages in Jharkhand, the Indian state with some of the highest rates of child marriage, female illiteracy, and human trafficking. These 18 girls were chosen from more than 150 girls who attend Yuwa practices daily. They were selected based on their excellent practice and Yuwa class attendance, their values as ranked by their fellow teammates, and their intensity on the soccer field.
The Kearney Blue Devils are a team of multi-sport athletes from Kearney, Nebraska. They originated as a recreational soccer team and became an officially organized team in 2010. Since taking home the championship in their first tournament, the Blue Devils have never been awarded nothing less than second at any tournament they’ve played. In 2011 they were Nebraska Soccer Division Champions and were awarded the highest level of play possible in Nebraska, Premier. In 2012 the Devils competed in the Nebraska State Cornhusker Games and finished as Gold Medal State Champions. The Blue Devils are excited to conclude their final season together with the experience of playing international teams, before splitting into the high school system.
The C and C GoldenHawks are a U13 girls team from Denver, CO. Evolving out of a unique situation, most the girls on the team grew up together in the Park Hill neighborhood and have played together on the same soccer team since kindergarten. Through the years they have managed to keep the team primarily in tact while advancing through the competitive ranks of the Colorado Youth Soccer Association. This has given them a decided advantage when it comes to team play and provided the girls with a family atmosphere that acts as a safety net both on and off the field. They have advanced to the championship game in the past four tournaments they entered and remain a powerhouse in season play with only six losses in their past 30 games.
From the age of nine, these boys found in each other a bond that will no doubt last all through their lives. This bond has allowed for intense competition on the field and strong relationships off, producing several impressive results including a fall season record of 5-1-2 and a recent victory at the Missouri Mule Tournament.
The Ottawa Internationals S.C. Pumas girls U17 team from Canada are entering their final season before the players head off to university or college. Many of the girls have played soccer together for 6-7 years or longer.
