This will be the fifth year that Ed Fantozzi will be bringing his club, Vardar United, to the USA Cup. Nestled in the wilderness of rural northern Michigan, his teams are familiar with traveling to take on opponents.
Any given weekend can find them jaunting all over the Midwest to exhibit their passion for soccer. Savoring the opportunity to pit themselves against elite competition on an international stage, playing in Blaine is a highlight for his team. They revel in being exposed to different styles of play and the other teams inspire his players to keep to honing their skills. Participating in the opening ceremonies is a thrill like none other. “Walking into the stadium hearing our team announced and feeling the support from the fans is a memory that lasts with my students for a lifetime.” Fantozzi grounds his program on kindness, caring, compassion, integrity, and respect and it is with this solid foundation that his elite players take the field. This year his athletes will be sporting new uniforms from Squadra Soccer which will further cement the unique blend of pride and inspiration he generates in his teams. Returning home from Minnesota, his teams bring with them a renewed team spirit as they reflect on the shared experiences of the week away.
