USA CUP 2016 is excited to host the U16 girls Sherwood Park Phoenix from a suburb of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. Sherwood Park was established in 1955 and has a population of 69,000 people.

The team operates out of the Sherwood Park District Soccer Association, celebrating its 40th birthday this year. The association offers community leagues for recreational players and a competitive program – Phoenix Club. There are over 3,000 members belonging to their organization and it serves members from U4 to adult!

The team is well traveled and is headed to Costa Rica in March before they make the trip to Minnesota. Recent successes include 2015 Provincial Champions of Alberta and 2015 EIYSA league champions.

The team is coached by George Brady, who holds a National B License, has been with this team since 2010. Dave Friesen, the team’s assistant coach, has his Provincial B license and has been working with the team for the last 4 years.

The Sherwood Park Phoenix are extremely excited to be involved in the event. From the opening ceremonies to the dorm life to the activities surrounding this event, they cannot wait to represent their part of the world this summer at USA CUP.
