“USA Cup is a great opportunity to help raise funds and give the local cancer fighting organizations the opportunity for exposure and education to Schwan’s USA CUP participants, coaches and fans,” said Kara Radeke, USA Cup Director.
Four local organizations were chosen as a part of Kick Cancer in 2013; Children’s Cancer Research Fund, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients, Breast Cancer Awareness Association, and Minnesota Prostate Cancer Coalition. Each organization was chosen because of a close relation to USA CUP staff, Volunteers, Players, Parents, and spectators
"We are honored to partner with Schwan's USA CUP and the National Sports Center for this community event,” said Jim Leighton, Director of Corporate Partnerships Children's Cancer Research Fund. “This international audience gives us a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to the global quest for a cure for children's cancer.
A quadrant of fields on the north side of the National Sports Center Campus will be decorated with banners, flags and tents for each Cancer organization. Also game balls on the quadrant will be the color of that organization, pink for breast cancer, blue for prostate cancer, red for lymphoma and yellow for pediatric cancer. Teams are encouraged to wear the color from the Cancer of their choice to help show their support and awareness. The Eastbay retail store in the Sport Expo Center will be selling Kick Cancer t-shirts in the four colors of our cancer organizations.
How can you and your team get involved? For every goal scored and shutout recorded on Wednesday, Schwan’s USA CUP will donate $1 to Kick Cancer. The player who scored and goalie who earned a shutout get to choose their organization. The player who scored and goalies who earned a shutout will also receive a special Kick Cancer gift. Participants and spectators will be able to donate to the organization of their choice at the Kick Cancer Headquarters and in the Hub at the organization booths.
“Stop by and visit each booth for giveaways and fun activities” Jen Een, National Sport Center Field Sports Programmer.
